Volunteers at DutchCare
Volunteers make a significant difference to the
level of services we provide to our elders and there are many ways
to work as
a volunteer
at DutchCare.
At this very moment we have around 500 volunteers who support us on a
regular basis, each in a way that suits their skills and availability.
Residential Services
We have volunteers who visit our facilities
to play games with the residents or simply enjoy a cup of coffee and
a chat; they sometimes help the
residents in the gardens or with the care for our pets. We even have
regular computer classes for the residents which are given by volunteers
and there are many more activities where the extra support of volunteers
is much appreciated. You will be amazed at the difference you can make
for both residents and staff by helping out a few hours per week!
Community Services
The Friendly Visiting Program is aimed at people
who still live at home, but who, because of circumstances or disability,
find themselves becoming
isolated. We aim to increase people’s social contacts through establishing
one-on-one friendships with volunteer visitors and, if people wish, by
involving them in activities organised by Dutch clubs and other
organisations, for example.
If you wish to become a visitor, or to become involved as a volunteer
at our facilities, the coordinator would love to hear from you. She can
then also inform you about the orientation and support that are in place
for volunteers.
The volunteer coordinator can be reached on 03
9728 7401.

Our Auxiliaries
Our Auxiliaries are another group of volunteers
who work to raise funds for capital projects for DutchCare through
sales at our shops and kiosks and through catering at special events.
