Employment at DutchCare

It is DutchCare policy to employ qualified Dutch speaking staff where possible and to increase or maintain their level of competence through training courses and seminars.

DutchCare is committed to becoming an Employer of Choice and to achieve this has introduced the following strategies:

As we become important in the lives of our residents, clients and their families we also want to create a work environment that is family friendly for our employees. Accordingly we offer

Staff at DutchCare don’t get too stressed when their babysitter is sick or the crèche is closed on public holidays. They simply bring their children to work and encourage them to talk to residents, listen to their stories or help feed their animals.

• Training and Education
DutchCare commits 2.5% of its wages budget to training and education. All our staff have opportunities to take art in training and education both in-house and externally. Staff are continuously competency tested to ensure that they are providing excellent care. They are rewarded for their achievement of certificate or degree based learning by increments in their salaries.

• Empowerment of staff
As part of our commitment to the Eden Alternative the staff at DutchCare receive many education and training opportunities. Education allows us to make appropriate decisions and assists in career development.

• Team work At DutchCare we focus on working as a team and working with the same staff and elders to achieve the quality care and a great place to live and work.

• Our Enterprise Bargaining Agreement sets the salary ranges for all staff until September 2005
The EBA offers staff above award wages and better conditions than those found in most other aged care facilities or instance, we recognize that our staff may specialize in various skill areas and these people are paid a champions allowance.

Salary Packaging -DutchCare has an agreement with staff that entitles all staff who work more than 38 hours or 5 shifts per fortnight to salary packaging thereby having the ability of earning an additional $15000 tax free – this gives those employees additional take home wages that make it more attractive to work at DutchCare.
